New Zealander Joseph Parker has backed Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller to pull off a surprise victory against the current unified heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, Sky Sports report.
Joshua defeated Parker on points last March and has since gone on to beat Russian Alexander Povetkin, which has set up his first stateside fight against Miller.
The pair, who will meet at Madison Square Garden on June 1, have been involved in numerous heated press conferences, with Miller shoving Joshua in America.
It is the first time in Joshua’s career where he has been involved in multiple verbal spats with an opponent, with the Brit known for his calm and collected approach ahead of stepping into the ring.
And talking to the media, Parker gave his full backing to the Brooklyn man and revealed his hope for the American to pull off a stunning victory.
I’m good friends with Miller, so it’s one of those fights where I hope it goes well, and I hope he can pull it off, but it’s going to be a hard task, because Joshua is a champion. I’m just going to be interested as a heavyweight boxer and a fan of the sport.
I think he got under his skin. Miller is just playing the game, doing what he has to do. It’s just one of those things where it’s interesting for boxing.
We get along well, we message each other, and I’m supporting him because he supported me when I had the Joshua fight.
Parker has been linked with a clash against Dereck Chisora or Tyson Fury next, however, the New Zealander has yet to officially confirm who he will take on.
