American heavyweight Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller believes that Anthony Joshua is only the favourite for their Madison Square Garden clash due to his popularity, the Daily Express report.
Both fighters go into the clash in June undefeated in their professional careers, with Joshua, the current IBF, IBO, WBA and WBO champion, the heavy favourite with the bookmakers to defeat Miller.
A win for Joshua would stretch his winning streak to 23 and could set up a huge all-British showdown with Tyson Fury next.
Current WBC champion Deontay Wilder could also be a future opponent for Joshua if he manages to deal with fellow American Miller in his first bout stateside.
However, talking to the media in the week, Miller related his clash with Joshua to Adrien Broner’s bout with Marcos Maidana, claiming popularity makes the Brit the favourite.
When somebody is more popular, it’s always going to make them the favourite. That’s all it is.
When Marcos Maidana fought Adrien Broner, Adrien Broner was more popular than Marcos Maidana.
He was the favourite and he got spanked. When Amir Khan fought in America, he was favourite, and got his ass whooped.
Miller then went on to share his confidence going into the bout with the Brit.
F*** being favourite, I’ve worked too hard for that, I’m not looking past him, but he’s hoping everyone will kiss his a** and move in his direction.
Once I get in that ring, nobody is fighting for me. Nobody.
I’m gonna come kick his a**, it’s going to be World War 3.
