American heavyweight Jarrell Miller has admitted that he feels he is closer to securing a fight with Anthony Joshua than Dillian Whyte, according to a report on the Boxing Scene.
Miller and Whyte are both eager to get the chance to fight IBF, IBO, WBA and WBO champion Joshua this year.
The Brit already has Wembley Stadium booked for April 13th and that would be the date and venue if he decided to fight Whyte.
However, if Joshua opts for Miller, then he is expected to fight him in America in June. The negotiations between Whyte and Joshua are stuttering and Miller believes that he is getting closer to fighting Joshua.
Recently yes, there’s been talks about it (a Joshua fight). There was one offer that was made earlier today as a matter of fact.
It’s just based on if Dillian Whyte doesn’t really want the fight. They said if they can make a deal with me then they’re going to bypass Dillian Whyte and fight me in June. Dillian Whyte might miss an opportunity because he wants to be stubborn on certain numbers.
It’s not a bad offer. My ultimate goal is to get a title shot. I’m thinking about legacy first and then the money will come.
Whyte’s desire to be paid a higher amount for fighting Joshua could see him lose the chance to fight him entirely, allowing Miller to step in and have the title shot that he so badly desires.
