Joseph Parker claims Anthony Joshua lacked respect
Heavyweight Joseph Parker believes that Anthony Joshua failed to show him any respect after their meeting in March and accused the Brit of making excuses over failing to knock him out, Sky Sports report.
The New Zealander is currently in his final preparations to take on Dillian Whyte next weekend, which will be his first fight since losing his WBO belt to Joshua in Cardiff.
The defeat to Joshua was Parker’s first as a professional, with the Kiwi the only fighter to take the Brit the full 12 rounds during his 21 fights to date.
Talking ahead of his fight with Whyte, Parker was asked whether or not he felt Joshua had showed him any respect after the bout.
Not really. He said if he could turn back time, he will knock me out, but I know he tried to knock me out and he couldn’t, so he’s making excuses.
He’s a nice person and humble, but making excuses is something else.
Parker also admitted that he has watched the fight back numerous times and has grown frustrated over his performance against the Brit.
Three, four times [I’ve watched it back]. I’ve seen it a few, and got some advice.
When you watch it, you’re like ‘Damn, I wish I had punched him here’.
Joshua is set to take on Russian Alexander Povetkin at Wembley Stadium in September, with Parker hopeful in the future of a rematch against Joshua.
