Fury on Seferi – ‘I hoped he would give me a better fight’
Tyson Fury wishes Sefer Seferi had given him a better fight in his return to the ring.
The self-styled “Gypsy King” had been away from professional boxing since his earth-shattering victory against Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 that crowned him undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
An excruciatingly public battle with addiction and mental health issues prevented a defence of those titles, but the Manchester-native made his comeback in his hometown arena last Saturday.
With the Albanian Seferi the named opponent, eyebrows were raised as to the pedigree of foe that promoter Frank Warren had selected.
The 39-year-old Seferi had fought much of his career at cruiserweight and the fight played out in a manner many fans and pundits had predicted.
Quitting on his stool following the conclusion of the fourth round, Seferi left Fury wanting more.
Fury said:
It was disappointing to say the least for me, because I trained for six months,
I hoped he would take me a bit longer and give me a better fight. It was what it was. I can’t complain.
The former king of the world is only looking ahead, however:
I came out unscathed, still good-looking as ever, still got my senses and I’m here, roll on Belfast. Come on, let’s go.
I hope this time I get someone back who can have a fight with me, punch me in the face a couple of times, give me a busted nose, and a busted mouth, and I hit him back and I knock him upside down.
