Luis Ortiz eyeing fight with Tyson Fury
American heavyweight Luis Ortiz is looking to fight former heavyweight world champion, Tyson Fury, next, according to a report on the Boxing Scene.
Ortiz fell to a tenth round defeat against Deontay Wilder in March but is still looking for a big fight. Ortiz seriously troubled WBC champion Wilder and believes that he can do the same to Fury.
The American’s manager Jay Jiminez revealed that Ortiz is hoping to fight Fury or Russian Alexander Povetkin, who could be set to face Anthony Joshua next.
Fury returned to action last Saturday with a comfortable victory over Albanian Sefer Seferi in Manchester and will be looking for an opponent who could seriously test him. Ortiz thinks he is the man to do exactly that.
Jiminez said:
Fury or Povetkin. He is top 5 in our book. Either one is what we want for Luis’ next fight.
Fury does not want to have a title fight until he is completely ready for the challenge and is expected to fight once again in August, but once the Gypsy King is ready for his first big fight, Ortiz will be ready and waiting.
