Tony Bellew has revealed that he is currently weighing up his options for the future, with retirement being a serious possibility, according to a report on the Sports Mole.
The ‘Bomber’ defeated rival David Haye for the second time earlier this month in an epic victory and believes that it is a perfect opportunity for him to bow out from the sport with his head held high.
However, he may be tempted into another fight by returning heavyweight Tyson Fury, with both fighters claiming that they can beat one another.
Bellew produced a brilliant performance to stop Haye on May 5th at the 02 Arena. When assessing his future options, Bellew said:
Last Saturday [May 5] was perhaps the ideal way to get out of the sport with all my senses fully working.
I’ve won the world title at Goodison Park then gone on to defeat a legend of British boxing twice on the row.
That is the fairytale ending for a boxer to go out on, but I’m a fighter, and despite how low it can make you feel at times, I do love the sport.
I’m going to have to weigh a lot of things up, but I know whatever decision I make, it’ll be the right one for me and my family.
The Liverpudlian is now enjoying some time off with his family and has not yet decided what he is going to do.
