George Groves has revealed that he believes he is being under-estimated and knows that he will “hurt” his semi-final opponent Chris Eubank Jr on Saturday night, according to a report on the Boxing Scene.
Groves and Eubank Jr go head to head in the World Boxing Super Series semi-final, with both boxers feeling confident ahead of the fight which takes place in the Manchester Arena.
Many boxers and pundits have predicted a close fight but ultimately have decided that Eubank Jr will come away with the win. However, Groves feels that Eubank Jr’s arrogance will be his downfall when he steps into the ring.
It could be over-arrogance or it could just be naivety, him thinking he doesn’t need anyone’s help or will get to the very top without any help.
He might have a good chin, he definitely has a good engine but as soon as I hit him, I am going to hurt him and put him away.
There is a massive difference in opposition we have both faced. He is going to have to make a huge step up.
Groves is putting his WBA world super middleweight title on the line, whereas Eubank Jr is at risk of losing his IBO title if he loses the fight.
Groves has hinted that he feels Eubank Jr is not taking the fight seriously enough and could suffer in the ring on Saturday.
