Eubank Jr reveals he entered the Super Series tournament to fight Groves
Chris Eubank Jr has revealed that he believes he would never have got to fight George Groves if he did not enter the World Boxing Super Series tournament, according to a report on the International Business Times.
The two fighters face each other in the semi-final of the tournament on Saturday in Manchester.
Eubank Jr has his IBO super middleweight title on the line while Groves is at risk of losing his WBA super middleweight title.
The fight is eagerly anticipated by the boxing world with many believing that it could be a classic encounter between two very good boxers.
Eubank Jr has promised that he will meet Groves with fire and fury when they face off in the ring and revealed he finally has the fight that he has been craving.
He said:
You have to fight the best and that’s why I entered this tournament because I wanted to corner these guys. I don’t think I would ever get the George Groves fight if I didn’t enter this tournament. I just think they would have dodged me for years.
The winner of this fight will go into the final of the tournament to fight either Liverpool’s Callum Smith or former two-time light-heavyweight champion Jurgen Brahmer.
Eubank Jr and Groves are familiar with each other’s style because they used to be sparring partners and it could be a fascinating encounter on Saturday.
