Joshua eyes fights with Wilder, Fury and Parker in 2018
After Anthony Joshua defeated Carlos Takam to take his record to 20-0, thoughts immediately turned to who he could fight next year.
Speaking in the ring after the fight, AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn said that Joshua is keen to unify the division and also to set up an all-British super fight with former champion Tyson Fury.
He said:
AJ’s told me he wants the belts. Deontay Wilder against Anthony Joshua has to happen. There’s also a great heavyweight called Tyson Fury. Anthony Joshua will give you the fights you want. Wilder, Fury, Joseph Parker – they’re the 2018 fights. I don’t think we should go abroad. Anthony Joshua will fight anyone.
Like Joshua, Wilder is also undefeated and he currently holds the WBC heavyweight title and should he still have it after his fight with Bermane Stiverne in November, a unification fight is on the cards.
New Zealander Parker is the current WBO champion and he to is undefeated, although he didn’t look to great last time out against Hughie Fury.
Speaking of Hughie Fury, his cousin Tyson is the man everyone wants to see AJ fight, although the former champion should need to get back into shape and there is also the small matter of him not having a licence at present!
Whatever happens in 2018 for Joshua, we’re sure to see a few more amazing title fights.
