Anthony Joshua is open to an MMA fight
World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is open to an MMA fight as long as there is no submission rule.
With the build up for McGregor vs Mayweather in full swing, Joshua has now revealed that he is also open to an MMA fight.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Joshua is up for any type of fight.
I like fighting, I’d do whatever,
I’d probably get beaten.
The only thing that they can’t do is submissions but they can kick, elbow, bite – whatever they want.
The main reason as to why Joshua wants no submission is due to the time it takes to learn them.
I can’t beat a guy [via submission].
That takes a lot of time to learn the skills and submissions, which I don’t have the time for, but when it comes to pure aggression and fighting rules, I can definitely fight, so I don’t mind that.
Joshua’s next opponent is yet to be finalised, but, will most likely be the IBF mandatory Kubrat Pulev later this year at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
