Hennessy Sports have announced the undercard for the upcoming WBO World Heavyweight title showdown between Joseph Parker and Hughie Fury on Saturday 23rd September at the Manchester Arena.
The main event is the power punching Parker, the current WBO World Champion from New Zealand, squaring off against the current Mandatory and #1 Challenger in the form of Manchester’s Hughie Fury in a potential fight of the year.
The two young fighters are both putting their undefeated records on the line with Parker determined to hold onto his crown and prove his worth as a heavyweight champion, while Fury is intent on tearing the title away in front of his home crowd.
Whilst the event focuses on the big men of the sport in the main event, the small men of the boxing, feature in the chief support with British Bantamweight Champion Josh Wale defending his title against Don Broadhurst.
Josh Wale makes the first defence of the prestigious Lonsdale belt that he won against Jamie Wilson in July with a win on points, but, faces a hard test against Broadhurst, a former British and Commonwealth Super-Flyweight Champion.
Another exciting showdown on the card features Manchester’s Joe Murray looking to get back into title contention against Matty Fagan in an eliminator for the British Title which is sure to produce fireworks. Murray, an Olympic medalist, is on a six-fight unbeaten run as he looks to secure a second shot at the British title following a loss in his first attempt against Liam Walsh in 2015.
While Fagan, who is hungry to challenge for the first title in his career, knows that a victory over Murray will ensure him his first opportunity. Peter McDonagh and Shayne Singleton do battle in a ten-round super-welterweight bout.

Three-time and three-weight Irish Champion McDonagh has had a recent career rejuvenation and is currently riding a 10-fight unbeaten run, but he faces a difficult challenge against Singleton, who aims to get back into title contention. Local fight favourite Jimmy ‘Kilrain’ Kelly, appears on the show courtesy of MTK Global, will contest for a professional title on the show to be announced shortly.

Kelly is on a six-fight unbeaten run following his first World title attempt against Liam Smith in December 2015 that ended in a stoppage, but the 24-year-old talent still has big ambitions with the World title in his sights.
The younger brother of former Super-Lightweight World Champion Amir Khan, Haroon Khan aims to extend his unbeaten record to 7-0 when he features in a six-round bantamweight contest.
Undefeated heavyweight prospect Con Sheehan has his seventh pro-outing on the card. The Irishman also features courtesy of MTK Global, is starting to attract attention in the division since turning professional last year.
Training under Peter Fury, Sheehan is looking to break into title contention and will be looking to put on a performance to remember.
Completing the card will be a great bunch of local talent with the likes of Craig Bunn, Liam Taylor; Lee Carter, Jake Kilgannon and Mickey Ellison completing the line up for the big event.
