Part two of the promotional tour to hype up the fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor took the duo to Toronto, Canada. As was the case in the first event in Los Angeles, there was a lot of trash talking going on between the duo. Here are the main talking points from the event in Canada.
A famous introduction
Award-winning rapper Drake was brought in to introduce the fighters onto the stage. Not that event needed more hype…
Conor was at it again
Straight from the outset, McGregor was on the attack. After asking the crowd how he looked in his suit, Conor criticised Mayweather’s outfit, saying: “he looks like a little 12-year-old breakdancer, he’s 40!” McGregor then got in Floyd’s face saying: “You’re 40 years of age, dress your ******* age! Carrying a school bag on stage, what are you doing with a schoolbag on stage, you can’t even read!”
More from McGregor
Conor spoke about being 28-years-old and how he’s already on top of the world, before another put down of Mayweather: “I’m 28 years of age, I’m getting fight cheques and promotor cheques. When Floyd was 28, he was on Oscar De La Hoya’s undercard… and that’s just facts!”
Epic comeback from Conor
Responding to Conor’s comment about him not being able to read. Mayweather said: “I do numbers, I make money, you know my middle name *****”” Conor’s comeback was a simple “You owe money!” referring to Floyd’s reported issues with the IRS.
Mayweather defends his record and style
Mayweather defended his boxing style saying: “I’m perfect, 49-0. They say I’ve spent my entire career running, but I’ve spent my entire career running to the bank!”
Flag and bag
Floyd took an Irish flag from a fan in the crowd and draped it around himself. In response, Conor grabbed Floyd’s bag which had $5000 dollars inside. Conor told Floyd that if he did something with the flag then he wasn’t getting his money back. Floyd eventually passed the flag to McGrergor, but the irishman threw it back at his head!
Real men don't need suits
Responding to comments about how he was dressed, Mayweather said: “The real men don’t have to wear suits.”
The face off
As is custom, the pair ended the event face to face with McGregor laughing and shouting as Mayweather looked on looking calm.
