Parker not to spar with Fury ahead of Joshua fight
Joseph Parker’s trainer has revealed his fighter will not spar with Tyson Fury ahead of the Kiwi’s bout with Antony Joshua in March.
Fury and Parker had reportedly become good friends when the 26-year-old Auckland-native was in the UK last September to step into the ring with Fury’s cousin Hughie.
Former heavyweight champion of the world Fury had offered to help Parker with his preparations, but trainer Kevin Barry has announced his boxer will not be taking up the offer.
Tyson put his hand up to help us in the last two weeks once we arrived,Really, two weeks out, we don’t need to be getting in there with a 6ft 9ins Tyson Fury!
The 29-year-old Fury hasn’t been in the ring since November 2015, where he won a collection of unified world title belts with a victory over Wladimir Klitschko.
The Manchester-born Fury has suffered a rather public time away from boxing, but recent images suggest the 25-0 fighter might be close to a return to professional boxing.
The 24-0 Parker fights Joshua in Cardiff on March 31, but will be doing so without a pre-fight spar with a former heavyweight champion – perhaps a wise decision.
