Deontay Wilder: ‘I’ll easily get to 50-0’
WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has claimed that he will ‘easily’ make it to 50 wins without defeat, and believes Anthony Joshua doesn’t want to fight him, Boxing News Online report.
Wilder, 32, currently owns a perfect record of 39 wins, with 38 knockouts, something Joshua can boast as well, with the Brit undefeated on 20 wins.
With Joshua preparing to take on Joseph Parker in Cardiff next month, Wilder, talking to the media during his open workout, had a few choice words for Joshua.
I want him just as bad as everybody else wants him. If it was up to me, we would’ve been fighting two years ago. I don’t think Joshua wants to fight me. His promoters don’t want him to fight me.
Wilder also has a fight in March, as he prepares to defend his WBC heavyweight world championship against fellow-undefeated challenger Luis Ortiz on March 3rd.
However, despite facing his toughest opponent to date, Wilder is confident he will make it to 50 wins without tasting defeat.
I’ll easily get to 50-0. I’m not a 12-round fighter, and I don’t get overtime. I’m a knockout artist.
One thing is for sure, if Joshua and Wilder continue their unbeaten records, surely it is only a matter of time until the two heavyweights collide.
