Deontay Wilder is willing to travel to the UK to fight Anthony Joshua
WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder says he is happy to travel to the UK to fight Anthony Joshua, claiming that he’ll defeat AJ in his “safe haven” of Great Britain.
Speaking to BBC Sport, the undefeated Wilder said that Joshua should travel to America for a unification fight as that’s where fighters make the most money, before accusing the British star of being scared to travel to fight.
He said:
Packing out stadiums looks good but the money and Mecca of boxing is in America, but if you want to stay at home like a little girl, this king has no problem travelling to knock out the champion.
Wilder also said that Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, is avoiding making a super-fight between the duo and he called upon British boxing fans to pressure Hearn into setting up the unification bout.
I think Eddie is ducking me more so than Joshua. If Joshua’s a strong champion, a true champion, you guys in England should smoke him out, make him fight. You should see if he’s the best. My heart says I’m the best, if I’m not, I want someone to show me.
