Anthony Joshua wants Cardiff for his next fight
World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is looking for his next fight to be staged at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
A rematch with Wladimir Klitschko in Las Vegas was cancelled after the Ukranian earlier this month.
Joshua’s next title defence is set to be announced imminently with it taking place in Cardiff on October 28th or in Las Vegas on November 11th at the T-Mobile Arena.
Joshua is likely to face one of two mandatories.
He could face the WBA mandatory Luis Ortiz or the IBF’s mandatory Kubrat Pulev.
Joshua and his team are hoping the WBA will allow him to face Pulev first as the the Bulgarian has been patiently waiting for his shot at the title.
Speaking to The Independant, Joshua wants to make it easy for his fans in Britain to watch him fight.
My heart always tells me the UK, because a lot of people that have supported me since the amateurs are from here, and it gives them a chance to come down and watch a heavyweight title fight without having to travel.
When it comes to who he will face next, Joshua believes Pulev is next in line.
My mandatory with Pulev has been ongoing for a year.
The mandatory with Luis Ortiz has been going on for two months; I’ve had obligations in place for the past year.
(The IBF) let me and Klitschko have a unification fight. We had to sign an agreement that straight after the Klitschko fight (I would fight Pulev), provided there’s not a rematch.
