Flanagan faces his toughest test to date on Saturday night
This Saturday night at the Manchester arena local lad Terry Flanagan defends his WBO lightweight title against the dangerous Russian Petr Petrov, on the night that the Boxnation and BT Sport partnership kicks off.
The Show will hopefully be the first of many big nights for Flanagan and all other fighters currently under the banner of Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, with the added exposure brought by BT set to provide the fighters more chance of landing fights with the big names of their respective divisions on home soil.
Terry is on the longest undefeated streak of any UK champion currently, and will certainly be up against his toughest test to date in Petrov, who has only come unstuck at world level with defeats to current WBC champion Dejan Zlaticanin and Marcos Maidana on his record.
The pressure will be on the hometown man to produce a big performance and win in good fashion, with a muted potential fight with the conqueror of fellow Mancunian Anthony Crolla, the current WBA, WBC Diamond and Ring magazine belt holder Jorge Linares on the horizon.
Flanagan, I am sure will not let talk of the future distract him from taking care of business on Saturday night, with slip ups in Boxing known to happen throughout the years and be sure we will witness ‘Turbo’ continue his impressive run of victories.
