Scottish Super Middleweight David Brophy claimed the Commonwealth title today, by stopping the Undefeated Zac Dunn in the 7th round of their contest in Australia with a vicious onslaught.
The former opponent of George Groves, has been re building his career since he suffered defeat to the Hammersmith world title challenger and on the back of 2 straight wins secured a shot at the title in Melbourne today. And he took it with both hands to claim the first major title of his career so far.
The ‘Mack the Knife’ stable fighter over came the odds against the previously 23-0 Australian in his own back yard, ripping the title off the champion with a superb stoppage and will be bringing back to the UK with him in what the 26 year old will be hoping is the start of the way back into the big fights for him.
The likes of Martin Murray,Rocky Fielding or even Chris Eubank Jr could only be a few fights away for the Scottish fighter following this victory and he will now be looking up and trying to build towards securing another big domestic clash in late 2017 or early 2018.
One thing is for sure he is now well and truly back on the radar and must be respected following his impressive victory down under today.
