Deontay Wilder reveals his next opponent
WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will defend his title on February 25th 2017 against Andrzej Wawrzyk.
The fight will take place in Wilder’s home state of Alabama at The Legacy Arena, Birmingham.
Wilder defended his title last July against Chris Arreola where despite knocking his opponent out, tore his right biceps and broke his right hand.
Speaking to ESPN, Wilder is excited about performing in front of a home crowd.
It’s always fun to display my talents in front of the hometown fans. It’s an opportunity that I always look forward to and it brings out the best in me. I’m healthy and I’m ready to put on a fantastic show.
Wilder has already stated his interest in facing the winner of Anthony Joshua’s fight with Wladimir Klitschko on April 29th next year if he successfully defends his title in February.
I’ve been talking about unifying the division for a long time. If he fights and wins we want that fight quickly. We been waiting for too long now. We don’t want to keep the people waiting. There is no bigger fight than Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.
