Why Fury will beat Klitschko again
Tyson Fury made history back in November as he defeated Wladimir Klitschko by unanimous decision to claim the world heavyweight title belts. The British fighter produced a spectacular performance to pip the Ukrainian in Germany and boxing fans will now be treated to what could be a sensational rematch between two of the best pound-for-pound heavyweight fighters in the business on July 9th.
If nothing else, Fury is a beast and the Manchester-born star will be desperate to defend his titles as an all-British fight with rising talent Anthony Joshua looms large. At the time of writing, he is priced at 10/11 to retain his titles against Klitschko in Coral’s Tyson Fury betting odds and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see him try to knock the Ukrainian legend out this time around.
Fury controlled November’s bout and never really looked in danger but he must be wary of Klitschko’s threat. Whilst he is now 40 years old, the Ukrainian will go down in history as one of the greatest boxers of all-time and Klitschko will be quietly confident ahead of what is widely regarded as the most anticipated fight of the calendar year. Joshua’s bout with Dominic Breazeale is picking up pace but simply cannot compete with Fury-Klitschko 2.
Prior to Fury’s victory at the end of last year, Klitschko hadn’t lost a professional bout since 2004 – an incredible achievement. He has beaten some of the biggest stars in the sport but he just doesn’t have the pace to compete at the top level anymore. Fury, who is currently trying to shed the pounds ahead of the fight , is an unorthodox battler and Klitschko has never competed against somebody like Fury before – and that’s why he will lose again.
If Fury and Joshua both win their respective fights, British boxing fans may well get a showdown between the two Brits at the end of the year. There has been plenty of ‘beef’ in the last few months and both fighters are trying to push demand for what could be the greatest British fight in boxing history. After all, that’s what this game is about: media attention, publicity and, of course, making money and winning titles.
Tyson Fury betting odds are up at Coral.co.uk and they seem to suggest that Fury (11/10) would be the slight underdog against Joshua (8/11) but that’s exactly how the Manchester-born star likes it. His unorthodox style would certainly cause Joshua a few problems but the current IBF heavyweight champion is more than capable of dealing with anything Fury can throw at him. A bout WILL happen eventually and it will be dynamite when it does.
If nothing else, the fight between Fury and Klitschko has been billed as a colossal evening but it might be more about setting up an all-British bout with Joshua. If Fury beats Klitschko – and I believe he will – then it’s only a matter of time before British boxing fans get what they want in what is sure to be one of the most anticipated fights in the history of the sport.
